Buddhist monks attack on Rohingyas in Sri Lanka



Extremist Buddhists have attacked the Rohingya who took shelter in a UN safe house in Sri Lanka. Police said the incident happened in the capital Colombo.After this incident, 31 Rohingya refugees who were in the safe house have been forced to move away elsewhere. Police spokesman Ruan Gunasekera said that Rohingya, who came to Sri Lanka with the help of two suspected Indian human traffickers, went to sea in April. Later they were kept in a detention center of the police.
Sinhali Jatika Balamuluwa, a radical nationalist group, has been shown live broadcast on their Facebook page, Buddhist monks and some civilians have attacked the safe house. At that time, they were shouting slogans, terrorists did not have shelter in this country. A Buddhist monk, led by the attacker Akimena Deyaratne, said at the time that the Rohingyas are terrorists. They killed our Buddhist monks in Myanmar.
A police officer unwilling to disclose the name said, "We have removed the attackers and the security arrangements for Rohingyas have been taken." AFP reported that local authorities later handed over the Rohingya UNHCR to UNHCR officials.
