The cost of building roads in Bangladesh is more than construction costs in Bangladesh
The cost of building roads in Bangladesh is more than construction costs in Bangladesh. But due to the lack of control of the authorities concerned, the quality of the streets is declining. Experts believe that it is possible to create the best quality through better road design, implementation, use of quality materials, tax management, rigorous observation and implementation of projects.
Road transport and highway departments and officials of the Local Government Services Department (LGED) have said that road transport needs to repair 2,000 km of roads every year.
After a 13 kilometer long repair in Bandarban, it can be reinstated in 4 months. However, the department of government acknowledges that this tragic state of the road is recognized by the use of low quality equipment and road construction materials.
According to the official engineering department, under the LGED, there are 2.85 lakh kilometers of roads. There are 21.03 lakh km highway and district roads of Road Transport and Highway Division.
On 20 June, the World Bank published a list of road construction costs. The cost of building every kilometer from Bangladesh is $ 25 million to $ 11.9 million, which is the highest in the world!
Professor Jamilur Reza Chowdhury said: "We need good design, good implementation and quality materials for high-quality roads and bridges. Most of the bridges in the country are built with international standards. The Jamuna Bridge was built almost 20 years ago and there is no mistake yet The Padma Bridge is built with the same international standards.
BUET Professor Shamsul Haque said that due to the involvement of local political parties with most organizations, road construction costs are more pronounced than those of actual costs. The construction of these roads is often absent by government officials.
He also said that road road construction should be carried out after road construction, which is not well developed by road construction companies.
He believes that if the projects are well implemented and road construction is completed at the right time, the costs will be much lower.
